Well, despite the signs of spring in Cornwall Park, it is really still winter, so off for a skiing trip we went.
It was a good drive down to Mt Ruapehu, with a little picnic on the way. We were staying in the Whakapapa village and after several room changes settled into our hotel room, with a rather spectacular view.
We managed two days skiing this time and moved out of my comfort zone by going onto the lower mountain, very scared, fell a few times, legs shaking, a little bit of screaming, and some lovely mulled wine at the end of the day.
Next year we hope to try our luck down on the South Island.
Spring
So spring is coming, the weather has been warm and sunny lately, though the rain has returned with a vegance the last few days. A wonderful place to see in the change in seasons (why I picked NZ rather than Oz to live in) is One Tree Hill or Cornwall Park. A great rural park very close to where we live. At this time of year the daffs are in full bloom and there are lambs, calves - oh and ice cream!
